Course Instructor

Doug Lawson is a practicing data scientist who has worked in the energy and transport industries long before the job title existed. He got his PhD at Cal Berkeley studying stability analysis of evolving networks. While in the energy industry, he applied machine learning, non-linear optimization, and numerical simulation to exploration and development problems. In transportation, he has applied artificial intelligence, linear systems analysis, dynamic programming, and evolving agent-based simulation in improving processes.

He has many years of experience in High Performance Computing from writing code for massive finite-element simulations on CRAY's to large network sensitivity analysis on NVIDIA cards.
